Ambassador Zindziswa “Zindzi” Mandela was educated in South Africa and Swaziland. She spent many years involved in South Africa’s freedom struggle. She has been involved in philanthropic work as: An employee of Operation Hunger in the 1980’s, a Trust of the King Luthuli Transformation Centre for Non-Violence, a managing Trustee of the Nelson Mandela’s Children’s Fund, a Trustee of the Progressive Sport and Recreation Development Trust, member of the Advisory Board of Trustlife (a NGO). Her contribution as the Patron of the Vision In Sight Trust has led to the formation of the “Zindzi Mandela Star of Excellence Award”. In her business role she was the Managing Director of Zee Zee Promotions, Promotions and Strategy Development Director of AEDC (African Energy Development Company), an Executive Director of MHMJ Concepts, President of Mandela-Msomi Trading Enterprises and Director of Zendj Holdings. In her political career she served as Deputy President of the Soweto Youth Congress, was a member of the Release Mandela Campaign, worked with communities of Weiler’s/Orange Farm to launch the first ANC (African National Congress) branch with Tat’ uWalter Sisulu in the 1990’s, was recruited by Cde Mshoshovu as an underground operative of Umkhonto we Sizwe (Armed Wing of the African National Congress) and later served in Commander Aubrey Metsing Modise’s unit, is a member of the MKMVA Zone II – Lesley Moatshe Branch (Mkhonto weSizwe Military Veterans Association). Ambassador Mandela shares a passion for the Arts and amongst her many talents and accolades she produced a documentary on her mother (Nomzamo Winnie Madikizela Mandela), which won a Sundance Film award. She is currently the South African Ambassador to Denmark, Patron of Crossing Borders Denmark: All in One boat, Founder of he Mandela Legacy Foundation and Zindzi Mandela Foundation.
